Today we planned to take the shuttle into San Juan del Sur to get some supplies and break up the routine a bit. However, we planned to take the shuttle at 11:30 and the shuttle left at 8:30. Oh well. "I guess we have to spend all day at the beach again," said Nic. Oh well... :)
In that sense, today was just the same old routine again. We went to breakfast at about 8 and consumed our usual embarrassingly American excessive amount of coffee while trying to stealthily fill up a water bottle or two from the very limited water container. Then we walked the 200 yards back to our room and gathered our things for beach day, which commenced once we then walked the 100 yards to the beach. Six hour, six cervezas, dos hamberguesas de pollo and two more applications of sunscreen later - the end.
Just kidding!
Today was a wonderful day, with many "bloggable" aspects, noted Nic. For one, today we tried out the blue light special water system, using the blue light water sanitizing wand from Tim to make sink water potable. I guess we will be able to confirm the success of this system in a matter of days, but for now, so far so good.
We met more amigos tourismos today: a solo woman in her mid-thirties from Australia, a gay couple from Denmark, and a funny local who is a server Manuel. Manuel helped me realize I have been under appreciating the significance of my boyfriend's first name at this time of year, in this country. After introducing Nic, Manuel responded, "Hoh - Hoh - Hoh! San Nicolas!" It was a funny joke.
Nic's Spanish is improving a lot too. On multiple occasions today, he understood communication when I failed to, and he is speaking more and more. Another skill he showed off today was his natural surfing ability. He rented a board for the last two hours of the afternoon and definitely got his five dollars worth of waves out of it.
I have to end this entry early Sine. my keyboards is. Malfunctioning but I will say, from where I am sitting right now in the outdoor Foyer near our room, I can see nine lizards o the ceiling.. Winniewee would love it here!
